  16. Welcome to the Easytext Program
  17.  
  18. Features
  19.  
  20.     This program contains  a number of very useful Features some of which
  21.     you have probably used before and some you may have not.
  22.     Below is a list of some of the features incorporated in the program 
  23.     with a short description of each. 
  24.     For more information on a particular topic see the Help Contents or 
  25.     the Help Index.

  28. Allows for Multiple Users: 
  29.     In the 'Options' section you may add as many User Names as you wish.
  30.     Each user can customize Easytext  to their own preferences with over 
  31.     35 customizable options.

  33. Each User Has His/Her Own:
  34.     Favorite Folders
  35.     Most Recent Files List
  36.     Format Options Etc.
  37.     Favorite Objects List
  38.     Open Files List

  41. Multiple Editors:
  42.     You may choose to open files in a single editor or open them up each 
  43.     in it's own editor. Each editor is separately customizable. Tabbed 
  44.     editors eliminate the burden of multiple windows.

  47. Open Files As You Left Them
  48.     Easytext has the ability to restart exactly as you  shut it down.
  49.     Will  bring up the last files you were working on and even place the 
  50.     cursor where you left it in each Editor Window.

  53. Plain Text or Rich Text:
  54.     When opening a "new' document, you can select whether to open it as 
  55.     Plaintext or Richtext.  This saves system resources.
  56.     Files can be saved in either Text or RTF format. Warns before format 
  57.      change.

  61. Customizable Folders and MRU lists:
  62.     Add folders to a list of Favorites  to quickly open folders that you 
  63.     use the most.
  64.     Recent File list can be disabled.
  65.     You also choose how many files to retain in the 'Recent File' list.

  68. Favorite Objects
  69.     Store Text and/or pictures you use a lot in a menu. Then insert them 
  70.     with a button click.
  71.     You can also store entire Templates in a menu item.

  73. Save-O-Matic :
  74.     Tool for automatically saving files as you work. 
  75.     You can set the Save Interval and choose whether to save to the 
  76.     original file or to a temporary file.
  77.     Turn it on or off with the click of a button.

  80. Scroll-O-Matic:
  81.     Feature for 'Hands Off' scrolling of the editor window.  You set the 
  82.     Scroll Speed.
  83.     Works in all four directions. Can be disabled

  85. ToolBars - Status Bar - Ruler - ToolTips:
  86.     Two(2) separate Toolbars keep most operations a button click away.
  87.     Ruler option available for working with Richtext documents.
  88.     Status Bar at bottom of window shows User Name, Editor State, Wrap 
  89.     Mode, Current Row and Column, 
  90.     WordWrap and User customizable Date and Time.
  91.     Useful Tool Hints.
  92.     All options can be either shown or hidden.
  93.     Dockable ToolBars.

  95. File Registration and File Filters:
  96.     You choose which files, if any, to associate with the program.(double 
  97.     clicking on that type file launches the Easytext program).
  98.     You can also set up the File Filters for the 'Open File Dialog' box. 
  99.     (ie: 'Text Files', 'All Files' Etc.).

  102. Run Other Programs:
  103.     Set up a list of other useful programs that you use a lot.
  104.     Programs may be run from the click of a button.

  107. Colors and Fonts:
  108.     You set the colors for the Editor windows, Ruler, ToolTips, Window 
  109.     Font, Tab Font and Spell Checker Window. You also choose the font 
  110.     for the Editor window Tabs.

  112.     There are many more features which you can customize to suit your 
  113.     individual needs.
  114.     See the 'Options' menu item in the Easytext program for more details.
  115.     Once in the Preferences dialog, selecting 'Help' will display help 
  116.     for the page you are working on.

  145. Installation
  146.     To install Easytext:
  147.         From Zip File: Open the file in Your Zip program (WinZip Etc.) 
  148.         and     click on the install icon.
  149.         The installation program will guide you through the rest of the
  150.          procedure.

  152.         From Disk: Just click the installation icon and watch for 
  153.         instructions.

  157. UnInstalling
  158.  
  159.         Though I would hope that you enjoy the program and would not 
  160.         want to un-install it, Easytext comes with a
  161.         complete Un-Install feature.
  162.         However, as with any program, files that are created after the 
  163.         installation are not deleted.
  164.         You will need to delete these files manually.
  165.         They can be found in the EasyWare\EasyText folder.

  169.  Help
  170.  
  171.         The first time you use the help file, you may get a notice saying 
  172.     "Windows can not find the help file". 
  173.     If this happens, Windows will ask you if you would like to 
  174.     find the file yourself. To do this , open the folder where 
  175.     you installed 'Easytext'. By default this is usually named      
  176.     'C:\Program Files\Easytext' There you will see the file 
  177.     'Easytext.hlp'. Just double-click on this file. You will only have 
  178.     to do this once. After that, Windows will find it on
  179.     it's own.

  185.     Every attempt has been made to make Easytext as friendly as 
  186.     possible.
  187.     If you encounter any problems that should be brought to our
  188.     attention, please, by all means, do so. 
  189.        Hopefully, any problems you encounter can be answered in the 
  190.     help file that accompanies the program.
